Fathers and daughters enjoy an”Evening in the Magical Garden”

A Well Attended & Well Executed Event

The annual Father Daughter Dance sponsored by Cosumnes Community Services District was held last weekend on Friday February 1 and Saturday February 2 from 6-9 PM at Laguna Town Hall. It will continue this week on Friday February 8 and Saturday February 9. The theme for this year’s event is “Evening in the Magical Garden.”

Each year, Cosumnes Community Services District hosts this lively event. They usually sell out and this year is no exception. Fathers and daughters come together for a catered dinner, dancing, and a keepsake for each girl. The girls must be age 3 or older.

Catered by Jackson’s Catering, the dinner this past weekend included tri tip with horseradish sauce, chicken strips, salad, and macaroni and cheese. Roxana Cheung who came with her father Kenneth Cheung said she liked the food. “The tri tip was really good. I mean I had seconds. The chicken strips were yummy too.”

Each girl received a keepsake of a pot with some flower seeds. The keepsake was meant to reflect the theme “Evening in the Magical Garden.”

Chick-fil-A also sponsored a craft table where girls could make their own barrette.

After stuffing themselves, the fathers and daughters had an opportunity to dance. The deejay played a good mix of hip hop, pop, popular music. The majority of the songs were fast dances.

Overall, most fathers I spoke to said the best part of the night was spending time with their daughters and watching them having fun. Kenneth Cheung noted that he doesn’t often get to spend one on one time with his daughter. “I liked seeing my daughter’s excitement when she got to dress up and eat some good food and dance with me and her friends. I think we both had a great time. It was a well executed event.”
