A Friday night house party in Elk Grove ended in gunfire last week. Bystanders told Elk Grove Police it all started around 11:30 PM when a man approached a group of individuals outside a party on the 8900 block of Gables Mill Place. Shortly after approaching, the man fired shots into the crowd. Witnesses said someone else at the party returned fire. All this resulted in one individual getting shot in the leg. The individual injured was taken by friends to an area hospital. Authorities said the host of the party rented the house from a short-term rental website.
EGPD tweeted about the incident and said: “House Party Leads to Shooting. Anyone with info regarding this investigation is asked to call detectives (916) 478-8060 or the Sacramento Valley Crime Stoppers (916) 443-HELP. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may be eligible for a reward.”
Police said gunfire also struck another residence, as well as a parked car on the street. Officials have yet to discover a motive for the shooting. No suspects are currently in custody.
According to Elk Grove Police and FBI crime statistics in recent years, violent crime, including aggravated assault, in Elk Grove is down year over year.
