Elk Grove Man Sentenced To Prison For Sex Trafficking A Child

On February 1, Abdul Basier Hashimi, 26, of Elk Grove, was sentenced to 12 years and 7 months for sex trafficking of a child. In this sentencing, Hashimi pleaded guilty in court on August 31, 2018.

From the court records, it indicated that Hashimi contacted the 13-year-old victim through social media platform tagged.com in August 2014. During that time, the victim and Hashimi began communicating until the victim ran away from home. At that point, the victim lived with Hashim.

When the victim became 14, Hashimi began using her as a prostitute. The areas of prostitution included Sacramento, Oakland, and other areas of Northern California. Additionally, Hashimi forced the minor to have sex with him.

According to the court records, Hashimi used backpage.com ads to solicit her for prostitution. Hashimi also rented motels and drove her to areas of prostitution. Additionally, Hashimi forced the victim to walk and work the streets.

After the victim received payment for prostitution, the victim gave all the money to Hashimi.

During the arrest of Hashimi, Hashimi did not cooperate with authorities and became aggressive while police were detaining him.
