On October 9, 2019, the Elk Grove Police Department released a statement regarding an arrest they had made of 54 year old Larry Capello, a Stockton elementary school counselor and local Elk Grove City resident, on charges of possession of child pornography.

Following a tip provided by the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children that they had received regarding images of child pornography located on the internet, Elk Grove Police Department detectives opened an investigation earlier this year. Afterwards, they later determined that the internet provider address belonged to Capello.

On October 8, 2019, detectives from the Elk Grove Police Department and investigators from the Sacramento Valley-Hi Tech Crimes Task Force served a search warrant on Capello’s Elk Grove residence.

Capello has since been arrested and booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail for “possession of obscene matter depicting persons under 18 years old.” Consequently, his arraignment in Sacramento Superior Court is scheduled for October 22, 2019.

Important to note, this investigation was a combined effort of the Elk Grove Police Department, Sacramento Valley Hi-Tech Crimes Task Force, and Internet Crimes Against Children Bureau. Furthermore, the Elk Grove Police Department encourages anyone with information related to Capello, specifically in relation to his involvement with minors, to contact the Elk Grove Police Department Investigations Bureau immediately.
