New Project Development Tool For City Of Elk Grove Website

City of Elk Grove’s Current Website Development Map

As the City continues to progress on multiple commercial projects throughout Elk Grove, plans to launch a new mapping tool on the city’s website are underway.

New Website Mapping Tool

The City will launch a new geographic information system (GIS)  tool to provide details for approved development projects in planning and under construction.

The current site tool is “cumbersome” and as a result, finding information on the system is difficult for the public and for staff who update the site.

On September 25, Antonio Ablog, City of Elk Grove Planning Manager, presented the new tool to the Elk Grove City Council. The project has a development team with expertise from various city departments, including web developers, planners, and GIS experts. The new tool is still under development. Ablog, however, confirmed it “will roll out to the public fairly soon.”

Interactive and User-Friendly

The new tool will be interactive and user-friendly.  Furthermore, actual construction site photos and drone images showing aerial views will be available.  The city plans to update the images quarterly for projects under development. For completed projects, photos will be available for about six months following completion. Most importantly, Ablog anticipates the new tool will eliminate the public’s need to call and request updates on development projects. He said, “We want a quick web-accessible way to find the information and see what’s going on.”

Current Project Updates

Additionally, Ablog presented some of the city’s current commercial and residential projects under construction, as well as projects that were recently completed.

The Ridge on Elk Grove Boulevard at Bruceville Road, one of the city’s highly-anticipated projects, has a lot of movement at the moment.  Olive Garden is currently under construction and proposes to open January 2020. Furthermore, contracts have been finalized for Pieology, Sourdough & Co., Somisomi Soft Serve & Taiyaki, Great Clips, and Happiness Nails. Also, Buffalo Wild Wings and Aspen Dental are both currently in the planning review phase.

Also under construction is Calvine Pointe, a shopping center at Calvine and Elk Grove-Florin roads.  The project plans include a sports facility, retail and restaurant space.

Residential Developments

Along with several commercial projects in development, a number of residential projects are also underway.  Among those mentioned were The Park at Laguna Springs, a senior housing project at Civic Center Drive,  a senior living community called Bruceville Point, and Bow Street Apartments, an affordable-housing community just north of Sheldon Road and east of Highway 99.
