Congratulations To The 19 Elk Grove Unified School District Athletes

On November 13, nineteen athletes from the Elk Grove Unified School District signed National Letters of Intent for college scholarships. The ceremony was held at Robert L. Trigg Education Center at 7 AM.

These students will be able to attend college through an athletic scholarship. Hailing from various high schools in the district, these students’ talents vary from softball to wrestling, gymnastics, and equestrian sports. As their senior years come to a close, new chapters in their lives are set to begin.

The signing ceremony was a bustle of activity and emotions. Despite being an early morning event, these athletes were accompanied by their families. Parents, siblings, grandparents, and aunts and uncles came to congratulate their star athletes. Teachers and coaches were also present.

There were many proud parents and families during the ceremony. Coaches gave their thanks and cheered on their respective students. Tears were shed and many photos were taken. For the student-athletes, it was easy to see that their lives were going to significantly change.

“I’m excited for what the future will hold,” said Sophie Jacquez. A softball player since she was a child, Jacquez will be attending the University of Utah.

Elk Grove Tribune would like to congratulate all 19 student-athletes. Years of hard work and dedication have been rewarded. We wish you all the best of luck in the future.
