Daiso Delta Shores Draws Crowds At Grand Opening

Customers line up outside Daiso during their Grand Opening

Daiso Delta Shores Grand Opening

Daiso, a Japanese store dedicated to cute “kawaii” items, opened at Delta Shores last weekend. Crowds of people showed up for the Grand Opening. In fact, a line of people extended down the sidewalk so far that we couldn’t get the whole line in one picture.

The Grand Opening was Friday August 17th and Saturday August 18th from 10 AM to 9PM. During Daiso’s Grand Opening, the first 100 customers received goodie bags filled with Japanese snacks, drinks, and novelty items. Also, Daiso held raffle prize giveaways for an iPad mini, a Dyson vacuum cleaner, a K-Cup Keurig Brewer, a $100 Visa Gift Card, and a $50 gas card.

Daiso has over 2,800 stores in Japan and over 4,000 stores worldwide. The Delta Shores location marks their nineteenth store in Northern California. Daiso sells everything from kitchenware to stationary, cosmetics, home goods, and origami paper. Most items in the store cost $1.50 or less. Therefore, this is a budget friendly store. There are already Daiso stores in the Natomas area of Sacramento and Roseville at Westfield Galleria.

We had a chance to speak to Yoshi Murata, the Vice President of Daiso. He said that the most popular items for Daiso are their snack foods, their authentic Japanese good, and their beauty items. Mr. Murata was happy the Grand Opening was going well. “I am excited that we are opening this location in Delta Shores. I would like to invite the people of Sacramento and Elk Grove to come in. Thank you so much for waiting.” When asked about future plans for Daiso, Mr. Murata confirmed that Daiso has plans to expand to Elk Grove. This is exciting news that many Elk Grove citizens will be happy to hear.

Our staff enjoyed looking through Daiso and buying a lot of cute and inexpensive items. Most shoppers seemed to be having a good time. It is clear from the crowds and from the positive response of people we spoke to that Daiso will continue to be a popular store at Delta Shores.

Beachwear on display

Daiso is now open for business seven days a week. It is open Monday through Saturday 10AM to 9PM. On Sundays, it is open 10AM to 8PM.
