Deadly Collision Leads To One Death On Sheldon Road

One person is dead after a fatal car crash involving at least three vehicles on Sheldon Road near Springhurst Drive earlier this week. Authorities say a car driving east on rear-ended another car, forcing it into another collision. During the incident, a female adult driver was found unconscious at the scene of the collision. After, the ambulance rushed the female victim to the hospital, where she died.

At this time, an investigation is underway by traffic collision investigators. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office has yet to release the identity of the deceased driver.

On July 8, 2019 at 4:55 p.m., the Elk Grove Police Department responded to a three-vehicle collision on Sheldon Road, just west of Sheldon Creek Drive. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a 2018 Chevrolet Spark had been involved in a three-vehicle collision. The driver, a female adult, was contacted at the scene and found to be unconscious. She was transported to a local area hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. Identification of the deceased will be made by the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office.

Due to the fatality, our traffic collision investigators responded to the scene and took over the investigation. Based on information obtained during the investigation, traffic investigators have determined that the driver of the Chevrolet Spark was slowing down eastbound on Sheldon Road approaching Springhurst Drive when she was rear-ended by a 2015 Mazda CX5. The collision caused the Chevrolet Spark to clip a 2010 BMW M3 and then the Chevrolet Spark came to rest upon the center median. The investigation is ongoing at this time.
