Dreaming Dog Brings Craft Beer to West Elk Grove

Dreaming Dog Brings Craft Beer to West Elk Grove

Dreaming Dog Brewery opened on October 7, 2017 off Harbor Point and Elk Grove Blvd right off I-5.  While Elk Grove is no stranger to craft beer, the majority of the brewers are in East Elk Grove.  Dreaming Dog is not only giving West Elk Grove a location for craft beer but also a venue for live music and community events.

Location Location Location

First Off, David and Liz Brown found it extremely important for their location to be in West Elk Grove.  West Elk Grove had absolutely no microbreweries before Dreaming Dog.  Beyond being in the different part of town, the Browns wanted a different type of space.  Next, instead of a warehouse, they selected a commercial space in the same plaza as Oz Korean BBQ and Flaming Grill.  The decor includes beautiful hanging light fixtures, leather couches, a functional fireplace piece, and other homey details.

Dreaming Dog Brewery is both family and dog friendly.  They have an ottoman full of games and end tables with coloring books and crayons.  Dogs have their own water bowls and all natural treats are for sale from local vendor Raquel’s Pet Treat Shop.  Framed photos of the dogs that attended their grand opening adorn the mantle.  You can also find their dog hanging out with them at the brewery.  Most notably, they name all their beers after dogs.  There are currently 4 beers on tap with more varieties on the way.

One of the goals of Dreaming Dog is to become a neighborhood hang out.  Live music events happen at their venue twice a month.  Next, they will be adding karaoke.  Other events include paint night, Monday Night Football viewing, and even Christmas Tree trimming!  A private room is available to host your own party.

Social Consciousness

Social consciousness is also on the forefront at Dreaming Dog.  Three fundraisers have already been held there since they opened less than 2 months ago.  More fundraisers are on the calendar such as a Brats, Beers, and Music event benefitting a performing arts school on Dec 16.

Dreaming Dog sources from local businesses to contribute to Elk Grove’s economy.  They’ve partnered with all the eateries in their parking lot such as India Kitchen and G Huts Cafe to provide delivery food to patrons.  Original Pete’s across the street with also deliver food to Dreaming Dog.  You can also find local food trucks servicing their locations on weekends and events.  They will also collaborating with Rescate Coffee and Spease Bees for upcoming releases.

Dreaming Dog is also environmentally responsible.  They have energy efficient lighting.  Spent grain goes to a local diary farm in Lodi.  Another farm is interested in taking their yeast to further reduce waste.

Dreaming Dog not only brought craft beer to West Elk Grove, they brought a sense of community.  I am looking forward to supporting them and watching them grow.  You can keep up with them on their Dreaming Dog Facebook page.
