Elk Grove Police Arrest Two People Caught Stealing Catalytic Converter

Two people suspected of stealing catalytic converters in Elk Grove were arrested early Thursday morning.

Catalytic Converter Thefts On A Rise

A vehicle seen leaving a neighborhood near Franklin Boulevard and Millstone Drive was pulled over a vehicle for a code violation by Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD) on Thursday. Additionally, the car was a match from previous reports of recent catalytic converter thefts.

The driver, 24-year-old Amanda Pellerin, and passenger, 31-year-old Boon Yang were found to be in possession of a catalytic converter and pipe cutting tools during a probation search. Also, EGPD confirmed that the converter found in the vehicle had been reported stolen earlier in the morning.

Two Arrested

Pellerin and Yang were arrested for numerous charges including stealing vehicle parts, possession of burglary tools and conspiracy. Yang was found to be on probation and had an active warrant out for his arrest.
