Stabbing At Sheldon High School With 1 Injured & 1 Suspect Detained

The afternoon of Monday March 19th, the Elk Grove Tribune received reports that someone had been stabbed at Sheldon High School in a bathroom.  The school was on lockdown from 1:40pm to 2:53 pm when it was lifted. The victim was reportedly stabbed and went to a relative’s house where 911 was called. He was then  transported to an area hospital. He was met at the hospital by his parents. The young man is injured and said to be responsive. No other information is known at this time.  Two other students who attempted to help were also injured but not seriously. The juvenile suspect was detained by the Sacramento Sheriff’s Department. The victims and the suspects are all students at Sheldon High School.

March 19, 2018

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Today at approximately 1:40 p.m., as a precaution, local law enforcement ordered a lockdown at Sheldon High School after receiving a report from school officials that a student had been stabbed.

Elk Grove Unified School District officers and local law enforcement responded immediately and following emergency protocols, helped to secure the school and lockdown. The victim was immediately cared for and transported to an area hospital and met by their parents. A student has been detained and is being questioned by law enforcement. At approximately 2:53 p.m., local law enforcement lifted the lockdown after an all clear was given.

Staff and students followed the emergency lockdown procedures and responded effectively and efficiently. All students are safe.
