Imagine a great place to spend the summer swimming with friends and family in a beautiful safe place. That is exactly what the Elk Grove Aquatic Center is. The Elk Grove Aquatic Center is officially open for the public to use. The opening day ceremony welcomed the public on May 25th.
As summer approaches, the grand opening exhibits the accomplishment of moving forward to a more community-based city. Elk Grove City Council, city staff, and partners were present in the ceremony as they have long waited for this center.
Due to construction delays, the center opened this year instead of last year. The opening ceremony has been a 10-year journey for the city. Even though it stalled for a few years, the original plans began in 2006 and the approval of the amenities in 2011 by Elk Grove City Council.
The Elk Grove Aquatic Center
The Elk Grove Aquatic Center is equipped with amenities that the community is looking forward to. More specifically, the Elk Grove Aquatic Center has a 50-meter length pool, a recreational pool, a lazy river, water slides, and a cafe.
To be more specific, the Elk Grove Aquatic Center has three pools. First, the competition pool for regional and national swim meets. Second, an instructional pool for teaching and classes. And lastly, a recreational pool for general community use.
Opening Day Ceremony
The opening day ceremony began at 10 AM with over a thousand people present. City leaders and the community were extremely excited for this mark into Elk Grove’s history. City staff hosted offered information about the center as well as providing some entertainment. Additionally, Kona Ice was present serving free shaved ice for guests.
Elk Grove Aquatic Center Information
Recreation swim hours on Saturdays and Sunday is from 12 PM to 5 PM. On Monday through Friday, hours are from 11:30 AM to 3:30 PM. The recreational pool is generally only open during the spring and summer months. Holiday hours will have different hours. Additionally, they will have special Family Swim Nights on June 8th, June 22nd, and July 6th.
Entrance fees are free for children under 2, $4 for ages 2 to 4, and $7 for ages 5 and up. Additionally, the Elk Grove Aquatic Center offers an aquatic pass that is good for all recreation swim hours.
