Angry Chikz – Nashville Hot Chicken Turns Up The Heat

Angry Chikz – Nashville Hot Chicken Turns Up The Heat

Let me start this by saying, if you’re on the lookout for a place that has some of the spiciest eats in town, read on!

Angry Chikz Nashville Hot Chicken (ACNHC) is in 8 other cities all throughout California, with many nearby cities pleading for them to open up closer. Fortunately for you, as of Friday, March 25th, Angry Chikz Nashville Hot Chicken is here! Yes, that’s right! The Sacramento area is lucky enough to have our very own Angry Chikz Nashville Hot Chicken branch. Located at 5801 Folsom Blvd Ste 130, Sacramento, CA 95819, ACNHC is officially open for dine-in and take-out!

Ambiance

I will be upfront and say, if you are going to visit ACHNC, go before 11:30 AM or mid-afternoon around 2:30 PM. The line was long, as I expected for a small, yet popular chain restaurant. It is a fast-casual eatery with a handful of tables only, thanks to COVID-19. The staff is polite, and drinks, as well as sauces, are all self-serve, which is perfect for someone like me who enjoys pouring herself multiple containers of their house special sauce. Despite the line being long and having to wait, the clientele seemed excited to try what this restaurant is known for: Angry chicken.

ACNHC – Menu

Menu

At first glance, their menu seems short with only 4 combo options. The first combo comes with 2 chicken tender sliders and fries. The second consists of 2 tenders over white bread and fries while the third combo offers a slider and the tender with white bread. Interestingly, the fourth combo includes 2 tenders over rice and some fries. Other menu items of interest included the Angry Fries and Angry Mac.

Food

If you know a little about me, you know about my inclination for seeking out spicy food, and of course, signing off as many waivers as I can to satisfy my yearning for insanely spicy food. This being said, of course, I order Combo 4 at Angry level, providing my signature as the restaurant requires. I then order Combo 3 at the mild level. Additionally, I feel the Angry fries calling my name so I request that in the X-Hot level. I also figure while I’m here, I should try the Angry Mac. So, I ask for one order of it in Medium Spice level.

While I waited, I planned my attack on the food. What would I try first? I should probably start with the least spicy in case the Angry level tenders numb my taste buds! My order is ready, so I sit down, and take the items out of their containers. These sliders are HUGE. Perhaps I was expecting a small, 2×2 sandwich, but what they call a slider is almost the same size as a regular chicken sandwich you would get from any fast-food restaurant! I bite into it, full of coleslaw and pickles. This is so much tastier than the well-known chicken sandwiches people fight over! The slaw and pickle combination, sweet and sour, atop the chicken tender was absolutely delicious. Not much spice to it yet, though, but the flavor is a delight!

The Angry Mac

Next, I move on to the Angry Mac. Admittedly, I am not a fan of mac-and-cheese since I usually find it boring and flavorless. However, this one, I would eat again! The delectable dish is served atop their seasoned fries, some chicken, and capped off with their house sauce. I would describe this as a smokey, white sauce. The Angry Mac tasted decent, but I wanted something that would burn a little more!

On to the Angry Fries, which looked a little different than what I expected. It had coleslaw and house special sauce on top. As I dug into the fries, chunks of the X-hot chicken layered around. This was starting to burn a little for me! Which was nice after the more mild flavors of Angry Mac and the slider. I’m also not fond of coleslaw and am quite particular about it, but once again, it complimented the fries flawlessly.

The Angry Fries topped off with coleslaw.

Last up, I have the Angry level chicken tenders over some buttery rice with a side of mild mac-and-cheese. While I am not a fan of rice, I understood it could curb the spice if things got out of hand, and it did! I take 1 large bite of the Angry chicken which burned but isn’t too bad. Bravely, I take another bite, and my mouth is on fire. I devour some rice to take the heat off, but it isn’t enough to take the burn away. Even as I am dousing myself with water, I am so impressed at how a local restaurant like ACHNC could finally knock me out with their spice level!

Conclusion

While the dishes are mouthwatering, the Angry Fries were my favorite. It is the combination of the chicken, fries, and toppings that have me craving it again at 11 PM. So, if you like trying something different, something spicy, or have a love of all things chicken, ACHNC is a must-try. The smaller menu keeps things simple, but their spice levels can keep up with those who prefer less or require more. I will also add that if you know of other restaurants requiring waivers to sign, let me know. I am always in search of them!
