Deadly Stabbing Homicide In Elk Grove

On Sunday morning, August 15, the Elk Grove Police arrested a suspect who was connected to a homicide at an Elk Grove residence. Around 8:30 AM, officers responded to a medical aid call to a home on 8900 Sierra Street. This is by Elk Grove Florin Road and Elk Grove Boulevard.

Upon arrival, the officers made contact with 36 year old Ricky Sims, who was inside the home. Sims refused to follow commands, let the officers inside, or reveal himself. However, after a less-than-lethal force was made by police, he was soon detained.

When officers entered and searched the home, they found a 36 year old female who was suffering from a stab wound to the neck. Despite the lifesaving attempts that were made, the woman passed away from her injuries. She was pronounced dead on the scene. The weapon used in this homicide was recovered on the scene.

The suspect was arrested, and taken to a local hospital to treat his injuries. He will be booked at the Sacramento County Main Jail on homicide charges, once he is medically cleared from the hospital. According to detectives, the suspect and the victim knew each other. What led up to this incident is still unknown. The homicide is still under investigation.
