Local Teen Matthiya Miller Missing Since Thursday-Update: MATTHIYA IS HOME SAFE!!

Missing 13 year-old Matthiya Miller was last seen on Casa Linda and 24th Street in Meadowview on Thursday, December 13th. Matthiya is 5’3, 130 pounds with black hair with brown tips and brown eyes. Please contact the Sacramento Police Department at 916-732-0100 immediately if you have any information on this missing person.

Last Seen Wearing Lilo & Stitch Pajamas

According to her mother, Melissa Essick, Matthiya left home without permission. Matthiya was last seen in her house between 7:30-8pm. She was wearing Blue Lilo & Stitch pajamas. Her mother went to say goodnight at approximately 9:30pm, and was met with a parent’s worst nightmare. Matthiya was gone. No one saw or heard her leave. Ms. Escott immediately called the police and filed a missing persons report. 

Honor Student and Athlete at School of Science & Engineering

Matthiya is an honor student and athlete. Engineering classes and sports including Basketball, Volleyball, Softball and swim keep her busy throughout the year. Ms. Escott is cautious with who her daughter spends her time with. In fact, Matthiya is not allowed to stay out overnight . Her close friends are known and have been contacted. There are no leads as of late. Matthiya’s neighbors say they are shocked about her disappearance. They say they never see Matthiya in the neighborhood without her younger brother, and never beyond Steve Jones Park nearby.

Speaks and Writes Fluent Spanish

Matthiya speaks and writes fluent Spanish. She attended a Spanish Emergent Program from Kindergarten through 6th grade. Prior to Covid-19, Matthiya attended Casa Del Espanol, a Spanish Language School downtown. Post Covid-19, she takes classes via zoom.

The family has ties to Stockton, California. However, relatives say they haven’t seen her since her disappearance. Matthiya does not have her cell phone and her mother is not aware of any social media handles. An investigation has been opened and the Sacramento Police Department is searching her school computer for evidence of her whereabouts. A reward of $10,000 is offered for her safe return. If you have any information or think you have seen her, please make the call. We need your help!
