The highly anticipated restaurant chain, “Nick the Greek,” located at 7460 Elk Grove Blvd in The Ridge Shopping Center, had its grand opening on April 19 and already receiving rave reviews from community members.

They serve a variety of delicious Mediterranean cuisine like Gyros, Pitas, and Hummus, and open daily from 11 AM to 10 PM.

Atmosphere

The restaurant is situated on a corner lot, and there is a lot of outdoor seating. We were pleasantly surprised to see that there is ample indoor seating as well. Going on opening weekend, we assumed the staff would be busy. But despite the heavy crowds, our order was taken quickly, and the staff seemed well-trained. The restaurant was very clean and the menu was simple.

Food

All of the food was fresh and light. The meat is cooked on a vertical rotisserie, so it is always hot and ready. The portions were large and easily shareable. The checkout has a variety of Greek sodas on display, and they are imported directly from Greece. They also have their signature dessert, Baklava.

Chicken Gyro

The “Chicken Gyro” is the most popular dish they serve. The mustard sauce is tangy and sweet, the chicken is well cooked, and the pita is soft. All together, It is truly the perfect bite.

Falafel Pita

Nick the Greek offers a variety of pitas, and the falafel is one not to miss. This chickpea and spice mixture is well cooked as they are crunchy on the outside and soft on the inside. The ingredients are the same as the chicken gyro, and just like the chicken they work together very well.

The “Chicken Souvlaki Plate” was a favorite among our party. The chicken was grilled to perfection, and the sides were delicious. The rice was well spiced and the salad was a great touch of vibrancy. This dish is also shareable for two or three people.

Nick’s Fries

Indeed we had to give “Nick’s Fries” a try. These french fries are topped with feta cheese, spicy yogurt sauce, garlic, your meat of choice, and green onions. While the toppings made the fries a bit soggy, the bite was a beautiful immersion of bold flavors. The feta was salty, pairing well with the tangy yogurt dressing. Also, like the others, this dish was large.

Hummus with Pita Bread Side

This side is a staple in Greek cuisine, and this met every expectation. The pita bread was grilled and crispy, and easily allows you to scoop up the savory hummus. The Hummus was smooth and dusted with smokey paprika. Needless to say, it’s a great appetizer.

Final Thoughts

It will be no surprise to us if Nick the Greek becomes an Elk Grove favorite. Their food is flavorful, the prices are fair, and the venue is large. This is an excellent addition to The Ridge Shopping Center, and is sure to become a go-to family staple. Happy Dining!
