Severe Storm Causes Power Outage In Elk Grove & Surrounding Areas

A severe storm throughout Northern California and the Sierras occurred on January 26, 2021. The storm caused power outages throughout Elk Grove and surrounding areas. Furthermore, trees, fencing and other damages occurred due to the strong winds and rain. Heavy rains and winds will continue until Thursday and end sometime around Friday.

Various neighborhoods throughout Elk Grove reported having power outages due to the storm. Power has come back on and off for certain neighborhoods. Workers have been out clearing trees and debris due to the winds and rain. Many of the current power outages are in the middle of Sacramento, near Midtown and Arden. However, areas such as Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova are also experiencing outages.

Photos Of The Damages

Fences fell. Palm trees were stripped of their leaves. Some pets got lost. And a trampoline went flying. Take a look at some of the damages that happened due to the storm.

Preparing For The Storm

While it is unusual for Elk Grove and surrounding areas to experience a severe storm, it is a good idea to be prepared for them. Bring your pets inside, or provide them with a stable and solid shelter. Anything that can be blown away in your yard, like grills, umbrellas, and furniture should either be weighed down or brought inside as well.

Keep a small collection of flashlights, batteries, candles, some snacks and water. You don’t want to be bumping around in the dark. And if your car happens to get smashed by a falling tree, at least you will have water in your home.
