Man Fatally Stabbed Near Elk Grove WinCo

The Elk Grove Police Department announced the arrest of 31-year-old Aaron Spencer Monday, after surveillance footage showed him stabbing a man and leaving him dead at a bus stop on Sheldon Road Sunday evening.

Timeline

The footage showed Spencer approaching the victim who is seen laying down on the grass near the bus stop. For reasons unknown, Spencer becomes irate and proceeds to stab the victim several times in the torso. He then fled the scene on foot before police were called on the scene.

Upon EGPD’s arrival, life-saving efforts were performed on the victim, but shortly after succumbed to his wounds. The name of the victim has not yet been released.

Spencer later returned to the scene and was later arrested on suspicion of murder. The weapon he allegedly used has not yet been recovered. He is being held without bail at the Sacramento County Main Jail on murder charges, according to EGPD.

Police have declined to release the victim’s identity until his family has been notified. But they are urging the public to call EGPD’s main line at (916) 714-5115 with any helpful information.
