Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko: A Darling Place To Eat

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko: A Darling Place To Eat

With summer officially here, the heat has been no joke! All I seem to think about is how to stay cool, so of course, I had to try Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko for their soft serve, teas, and sundaes!

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko originated on the beautiful island of Hawaii but luckily for me, I did not have to take a flight to get there, as there is one here in Sacramento! Located off of Stockton Boulevard, this unique establishment offers a variety of lattes, sundaes, and floats all centered around matcha! With so many options, it was hard to decide!

Atmosphere

When I walked through the door, I was immediately welcomed by an enthusiastic employee. Feeling a bit overwhelmed with the large menu, I took quite a while to decide what I wanted, but they were very patient with me. When I went to order, the owner herself not only took my order but let me sample the matcha soft serve because I admitted that I was a bit nervous to try matcha (it was my first time). She told me that their matcha is shipped from Uji, a city in Kyoto, Japan every Monday in order to be fully authentic and fresh! This is what makes the flavor so strong and the soft serve so smooth. I am a huge supporter of fresh ingredients, so this delighted me! With all this in mind, I knew the food had to be good!

Maiko Special

Of course, I had to try the Maiko Special! It’s their signature dish, and I can absolutely see why! The sundae is layered with a matcha-vanilla swirl soft serve, mocha balls, chestnut, matcha cake, adzuki beans, corn flakes, and agar jelly. That may seem like a lot, but when all together in one bite it forms beautifully. The soft serve was smooth and flavorful, the matcha cake was spongy and soft, and the cornflakes were crunchy! I enjoyed how intentional every ingredient was. The matcha cake was placed in between the soft serve and the corn flakes, so they never became soggy. This was absolutely delicious and a must-try!

Black Sesame Cream

Next on the menu was the black sesame cream. This unique drink was deep with sesame flavor. Tasting toasted sesame seeds, the sweet cream mixed beautifully with bitter notes of sesame. While this was not my favorite item we tried, I think this would be a great option if sweets aren’t your thing. However, I would have liked a bit more sweet cream to top off the drink.

The Boba Sundae

We ended our taste of Matcha with the boba sundae! As the name implies, this cold treat was a generous serving of matcha soft serve with a large scoop of boba balls. The matcha ice cream had a strong matcha flavor that mixed well with the added sweetness of ice cream. The boba was soft and did not harden before the dish was finished. Overall, I loved this combo and definitely want to see more boba sundaes in my future.

Overall

Premium Matcha Cafe Maiko is a real treat! They are reasonably priced, have fantastic service, and quality treats. While it is a bit of a drive from Elk Grove, I highly recommend giving this place a try. Happy Dining!!
