Shooting On Kelsey Drive In Elk Grove
Elk Grove Police say they responded to a shooting on Kelsey Drive in Elk Grove during the midnight hours on Wednesday. The incident reportedly occurred on the 8700 block of Kelsey Drive, and Lujan Drive, near Florin Road and Highway 99. One person was hospitalized. according to Elk Grove Police Department, while another was detained as a suspect.

Officer Hannah Gray said responding officers found one person injured at or near the scene upon the arrival of Elk Grove Police Department. The victim, who has not been identified, was transported to the hospital. His or her condition is not yet known. A press release about the incident says the identity of the victim will not be released.
The other person involved was identified as 51-year-old Viancia Roberson who was detained at the scene by police. Detectives say that Roberson allegedly drew a firearm and shot the victim multiple times during a verbal argument. Roberson was arrested and transported to the main jail. Roberson was booked for attempted murder, assault with a firearm, and domestic violence.

Early Morning Shooting Leads to Arrest
ELK GROVE, CA – On March 17, 2021, at about 12:45 a.m., officers were dispatched to a report of a shooting in the 8700 block of Kelsey Drive. Upon arrival, officers found an adult victim who sustained injuries during the shooting. The victim was transported to a local area hospital. The shooter, 51-year-old, Viancia Roberson, was contacted on scene and detained.
Through the course of the investigation, detectives learned there was a verbal argument between the victim and Roberson. The argument escalated when Roberson drew a firearm and shot the victim several times. Roberson was ultimately arrested for PC 664/187, PC 245 (A)(2), and PC 273.5 (A). Roberson was later transported and booked into the main jail.
