Franklin High School to Host Intentional Mass Casualty Incident Training
WHAT: The Elk Grove Unified School District (EGUSD) Department of Safety and Security is partnering with the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department to conduct an active Intentional Mass Casualty Incident (IMCI) Training for local law enforcement and emergency response agencies at Franklin High School. The IMCI training will take place during Franklin High School’s and Toby Johnson Middle School’s Winter Break.
WHEN: Monday, December 19, 2016 from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
WHERE: Franklin High School, 6400 Whitelock Parkway, Elk Grove, CA 95757
WHO: The training is for local first responders with help from several EGUSD volunteers. This collaborative training exercise helps prepare staff and school administrators for a potential incident response that may develop due to a man-made active threat.
WHY: Student and staff safety is the top priority for Elk Grove Unified. Thanks to the close collaboration and coordination between the EGUSD Department of Safety and Security, the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department and other local law enforcement and emergency agencies, these types of training exercises help to improve response time and prevent and mitigate harm during a natural or man-made threat. The IMCI training will provide invaluable resources to first responders and EGUSD staff.
