Elk Grove has another Vietnamese Restaurant that adds to the diverse community that we are. Located in the corner off the freeway of 99 of Elk Grove Boulevard, Pho Kim Anh delivers Vietnamese food with an aim to provide authentic food with simplicity in mind.

The staff here is super nice and friendly when I came in. Additionally, they took the time to help me with the menu.

Keep in mind, you pay first and this place is cash only. Also, the business hours and days opened of this establishment is limited. It’s opened Thursdays to Mondays from 10:15 AM to 3:30 PM. A lot of the patrons I’ve spoken with during my visit had an issue with this and it’s a reasonable concern.

After ordering, the staff will direct you to a table number. The tables are numbered so that the food that was ordered goes to that table. Being a small place that is moderately busy, it wasn’t an issue for me.

After sitting down, the staff brings the drinks to my table within a few minutes. That’s good service in my opinion. The drinks are ordered were the Vietnamese Coffee and Thai Tea. The Vietnamese Coffee was super strong that is what you expect for this drink. The Thai Tea is a good balance between flavor and sweetness.

At about 10 minutes later, the food comes steaming hot and steamy.  Ordering a Beef Pho and Chicken Pho, both looked authentic and appetizing. Upon the first bite, I was hooked on the flavor of the Chicken Pho. Super crisp broth with the noodles cooked to the right texture.  The Beef Pho is good as well. Topped with a bunch of thinly sliced beef, the beef pho was extremely satisfying.

Overall, I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch here.

Menu

The menu at Pho Kim Anh is simple. In my opinion, I like simple menus because it allows the establishment to focus on fewer things. This place is a real deal with authentic Vietnamese pho, served piping hot with sprouts, basil, and lime.

Additionally, the main entrees are Beef Pho and Chicken Pho. Each entree has different styles to it that range with different types of meats and noodles. This is normal for a pho restaurant to have this type of selection.

Additionally, the Pho Kim Anh has several drink options. However, they mentioned they have run out of some of the drinks listed.

The drinks they offer include Vietnamese coffee with or without condensed milk, Thai Ice Tea, fresh-squeezed lemon soda, salty preserved plum soda, coconut juice, ice tea, hot tea, orange juice, and soda of sorts.

A simple menu for this establishment that has been running for the past year. Another thing to note, take out costs about a dollar more.

Beef Pho (Pho Bo)

The Beef Pho is an excellent choice for this establishment if you like beef. For Beef Pho,  you can have it with all sorts of different meats and noodles. Additionally, you can add extra meat like meatballs. I would suggest extra rare steak as it’s cooked in the broth.

Chicken Pho (Pho Ga)

The Chicken Pho hits the spot with a nice hearty soup. The broth is simply divine. Chicken Pho varieties include dark meat and with white meat. They also have the option of clear noodles. I recommend the Chicken Pho with dark meat.

Vietnamese Coffee

The coffee is super strong with a touch of sweetness. If you like coffee, this is a must.

Atmosphere

Pho Kim Anh is a place to go to when you just want pho without the crowds. For this reason, it’s a place where you come for food without the need for service. Moreover, there’s plenty of room for small groups and the staff is friendly. Also, the food comes out reasonably fast. Stop by for a quick bowl of pho or get it for take out. I really enjoyed eating at Pho Kim Anh and plan to come back soon!
