Rescate Coffee & A Seat At The Table Host Outdoor Bookstore Pop-Up Event

Rescate Coffee, located at Elk Grove Boulevard and Harbour Point Drive, hosted their first ever Outdoor Bookstore Pop-Up in partnership with A Seat on the Table on Saturday, August 29th.

Rescate Transitioning During COVID-19

Rescate Coffee, a local Elk Grove coffee shop that has been in business since 2016, has transitioned with grace through the hurdles that COVID-19 has thrown at small businesses. Closing for a brief period of time at the onset of the pandemic, they have reopened the shop with temporary operating hours and a gorgeous outdoor seating area.

Saturday’s Outdoor Bookstore Pop-Up event brought in a large and excited crowd, all maintaining State-mandated social distancing and face mask wearing.

A Quick and Seamless Flow

Upon arrival, we found there to be a long line of patrons waiting to purchase a drink. The line wrapped the length of the sidewalk but moved at a steady pace. Immediately upon reaching the door of the coffee shop, co-owner Ladd Casillas met us to take our order. Between giving our order and paying for it, our drinks had already been made and were ready to go.

The coffee shop was structured to maintain one-direction foot traffic. After receiving our drinks at the end of the counter, we turned to our right and followed the footpath out to the parking lot where A Seat at the Table was hosting their pop-up event.

A Seat at the Table Bookstore Came Prepared

A Seat at the Table, Elk Grove’s only bookstore that operates both online and at pop-up events, came prepared with an excellent selection of books, tote bags, stickers, and more.

Many of the books on display at the event were in relation to social justice, anti-racism, and Black history. A Seat at the Table has made it their mission to bring the Elk Grove community an array of resources that cover gender, race, culture, sexuality, and more.

With more than 10 million titles available online, customers can purchase books from a Seat at the Table’s website here. The bookstore delivers in the 95757 and 95758 area codes and ships all over the country.
