The Grand Opening of UMABB

UMABB celebrated a grand opening with plenty of food, drinks, booze and snacks. Of course, with the vast array of great food and services, this attracted a crowd of interested future clientele. Both men and women expressed a much needed desire to improve their appearance. They were excited to have a medical spa such as this one in Elk Grove. A few elected officials attended the grand opening and congratulated Alexa and Latasha for bringing UMABB to the city. They also presented awards and certificates to the new business. Important to note, elected officials in attendance included Mayor Bobbie Singh-Allen, Assemblyman Jim Cooper, and Sacramento County Supervisor Don Nottoli.

Lifting Up The Community

Dr. Alexa and Nurse Latasha are passionate about bringing beauty to the community of Elk Grove, and in more ways than one. Therefore, they decided to partner with Marie Jachino, Executive Director at the Elk Grove Food Bank Services for the grand opening. A raffle was held with prizes of free facials and laser services. All the proceeds from the raffle at the grand opening were donated to the food bank to better serve the community and the growing needs of Elk Grove’s residents. The owners hope to continue to uplift the community in various ways.

The Event

The event took place in an indoor and outdoor setting of the medical spa. A disc jokey played vibrant sounds and modern music that set the tone for a successful gathering. Photographers strolled around snapping photos and a videographer filmed memories for guests to take home as memorabilia. Alcoholic beverages were generously served and each one was named after Latasha, the spa’s founder. The drink menu offered several alcohol mixes, cleverly titled as the Urban Aesthetic Wine, Tasha Dream, The Beauty Bar, and Moon Punch. An assortment of hors d’oeuvres and charcuterie trays sat on tables inside a large, decorated tent outside the beauty bar. The crowd was offered plenty to eat and drink throughout the entire celebration. Party bags were passed out to guests that were filled with treats, facial masks and promotional offers. Comeraderie and friendship flowed throughout the atmosphere of the grand opening, as UMABB welcomed the community of Elk Grove into their brand new medical spa.

About The Owners of UMAAB

The founder and co-owner of UMABB is Latasha Moon. She is a registered nurse who currently works as an emergency room nurse in Sacramento. She has worked for and has trained at many medical spas. Her main concern was always for men and women of color. Her diverse clientele consist of people of many ethnic backgrounds including those of Indian, African, Filipino, and all Asian descents. According to Latasha, most of her clients have had bad experiences with laser treatments and hair removal because of their skin tones and complexions. Therefore, Latasha decided to travel all over the country researching the skills and the equipment to help people of all skin types and tones. Latasha spoke with passion as she described her feelings.

“This means everything to me because I want to service my community. I want to bring something special to the community, and I want to help anybody and everybody, of all skin types.”

-Owner of UMABB Latasha Moon

Dr. Alexa Gingras is a co-owner of UMABB and a medical doctor. She currently works as an emergency room doctor in Sacramento with Latasha Moon. Dr. Alexa hopes to bring beauty to the community with the medical spa.

“Latasha has been in the cosmetics and aesthetics industry for over ten years working as an R.N. What she noticed a lot of the time, especially with laser, it wasn’t very accommodating with people of darker skin tones, those being African-American and Asian-American. She really wanted to focus on that and bring that accessibility of those services to those people, and to the community, which is absolutely fantastic! We have invested in some really high-end equipment, especially with the lasers that will accommodate all skin types, no matter how light or how dark.”
