26 Year Old Roseville Woman Killed By Highway 99 Near Elk Grove
According to the CHP, A 26 year old Roseville woman was hit and killed early Friday morning on Highway 99, north of Dillard Road. She was reportedly driving a 2015 Nissan Sentra north on the highway when she and another vehicle collided for undetermined reasons. This initial accident was one of non-injury, and alcohol was not suspected to have been a factor.
Soon after the accident, the woman stepped out of her car to speak with the second driver. Both drivers got out of their vehicles to discuss the crash. They were both standing in lane #1 of the freeway, the left northbound lane.
It was then that the woman was suddenly hit by a third vehicle, a 1996 Volkswagen Jetta. The Jetta also hit the second vehicle involved in the first accident which was a Nissan 370Z. The Roseville woman was killed upon the impact of the second crash, caused by the Jetta. Her name has not yet been released, and the Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will do so once her family has been notified.
Arrest
23 year old Jesus S. Hernandez from Bridgeport, Washington, was the suspect driving the Jetta, the third vehicle involved. He was soon arrested following the crash on suspicion of drunk driving, under the influence of alcohol. He was arrested on a felony DUI charge. Both collisions occurred around 2:20 AM, and the CHP is still investigating. Anybody with any information is encouraged to contact the California Highway Patrol.
