72 Year Old Woman Arrested After Running Car Into Business
Early Thursday morning, a 72 year old woman was arrested for deliberately running her car into a business near Laguna Boulevard and High Tech Court.
Video surveillance captured by Local Burger and Cali Glo Indoor Entertainment at 3:00 AM showed the woman slowly driving onto the sidewalk, backing up, and softly ramming the front doors of the building. Of the businesses located in the building, police reported more damage to Cali Glo. A formal damage estimate has not yet been completed.
Business owner Cameron Lee was alerted when alarms at the building went off. He checked surveillance and called the police. When the police arrived, the suspect was already gone.
The suspect was later identified as Jaki Walker of Elk Grove. Though gone from the scene, she later flagged down a passerby and asked them to take her to the Elk Grove Police Department. Investigators learned Walker was alone in the vehicle, and they do not believe drugs or alcohol were factors in Walker’s act. No injuries were reported.
Walker was booked into jail on a complaint of felony vandalism and her bond is set at $20,000.
The case is under further investigation.
