Elk Grove Teenager Killed While Riding Bicycle

A 14 year old boy from Elk Grove died from a crash on Saturday afternoon. Authorities say that he died while in the hospital from his injuries. The victim was Burke Madden.

Background

The teenager was riding his bike on Whitelock Parkway, east of Bruceville Road when the crash occurred. Police have ruled out drugs and alcohol as the culprit for the crash. Police provided medical assistance before he was transferred to the hospital. The accident happened at 3:19 PM.

The teenager was struck by a 2012 Chrysler 200. The vehicle was traveling eastbound, and the teenager was crossing the street northbound. Police contacted the driver who cooperated with authorities. Authorities found out that the pedestrian signal had not activated to alert the driver of the oncoming cyclist.
