Alaro Craft Brewery: A Hidden Gem In Sacramento
Since the start of the pandemic, eating out has become a bit more of a luxury. So when I’m able to find a place with a fun atmosphere, delicious food, and great service, I know I’ve hit the jackpot! That’s exactly what you can find at Alaro Craft Brewery! Located in midtown Sacramento, this swanky place is home to famous house brews, lunch, dinner, and weekend brunch! With options to sit down or take out, we decided to have a fun night on the town!
Atmosphere
We decided to visit Alaro Craft Brewery on a Saturday evening. This is a very busy time, and we strongly recommend you make a reservation beforehand because seats fill up fast. We sat in their lovely back patio which was shaded and covered with misters, which were fantastic and kept the smoke and heat out. Our server was very sweet and knowledgeable.
Now onto the drinks!
Drinks
Of course, you can’t go to a brewery and not get a beer. We tried the Avenida (the light beer) which was a citrusy single IPA, and the La Luna (the dark beer) which had a roasted coffee flavor.
Pub Chips & Caramelized Onion Dip
We started our culinary journey with Alaro Craft Brewery’s housemade chips and famous caramelized onion dip. The chips were simply delicious and unlimited, definitely a perk! They were also soft and perfectly salted, which paired nicely with the smooth onion dip. Speaking of dip: this dip was packed with flavor and spread well on the chips. This was a hit among our party.
Frickles With Caper Aioli
The fried pickles were next on the menu! These were another hit for our party. The pickles were juicy and went well with the crispy outside. The aioli was smooth and packed with salty flavor. Together they created a fantastic flavor.
Elote Off The Cob
The Elote Off The Cob was seasonal to the summer, and boy was this delicious! The corn was fresh from the husk, the cheese was salty, and the basil mayo was packed with flavor. While I would have liked the mayo to be drizzled, this was a great dish.
Gambas Al Ajillo
This house special dish was Spanish-inspired and packed with garlic and paprika. The prawns were juicy and the bread was soft. We enjoyed the bread because it allowed us to soak up the extra sauce.
Rainbow Veggie Burger
This burger was recommended by our server, and it’s clear why. The patty was packed with flavor, and the texture felt very similar to an actual burger. The vegetables were farm-fresh and incorporated well with the patty. The side of fries was hot and topped with a signature seasoning that mixed well with the flavor of the burger.
Hogs & Rocks
Yet another house special, the clams were a hit! The paprika sauce was smokey, and the clams were sweet. The potatoes placed underneath soaked up all the juices, allowing for them to have some great flavor. We could see why this was a house favorite.
Wild Rock Cod Tacos
We ordered these because our server recommended them, but this was not our favorite dish. While the colors were bold and fresh, the fish lacked salt and could have done with only half the amount of cabbage. We would have liked a bit more flavor.
Soul Satisfying Veggie Tacos
If you’re going to order tacos, we recommend these! Using the same base as the veggie burger, these tacos are not only packed with flavor, but they have a terrific texture. Each bite incorporated all the toppings well and they painted a beautiful flavor onto my palate.
Overall
Alaro Craft Brewery was a great place to spend our Saturday night. With friendly service, delicious food, and fun drinks, this gem is a must in Sacramento! Happy Dining!
