Elk Grove Police Chief Bryan Noblett Announces Retirement
Elk Grove Police Chief Bryan Noblett announced his plans to retire in late July 2019.
In a press statement released on April 5, Chief Noblett explained his early retirement plans so the City Manager Jason Behrmann could begin a national search for a new Police Chief.
He stated, “The decision to retire has been extremely difficult because of the work we are doing in this community, but I’ve come to realize that there’s an entire next chapter of life out there to explore, and my wife Sheri and I very much look forward to that.”
Chief Noblett has served in law enforcement for thirty-four years. He worked with the Lodi Police Department for twenty-four years, and spent the last ten with the Elk Grove Police Department, serving the last two and a half years as Elk Grove’s Police Chief.
Noblett’s primary objective as Chief of Police was to connect the community with the police department.
He worked steadily to strengthen the department’s relationship with the community as he launched a Chief’s Advisory Board and led the way for a new Intelligence Led Policing effort, Real Time Information Center, and the Animal Shelter to support the department’s immediate and long term successes.
Mayor Steve Ly, in a press statement, attributed to Chief Noblett the honor due for making Elk Grove one of the safest cities in Northern California, stating, “Chief Noblett has led Elk Grove’s police department with heart and humility.”
City Manager Jason Behrmann also gave tribute to Chief Noblett. “Elk Grove is a safer community thanks to the work of Chief Noblett. His earnest approach to leadership, his open communication style, his strong commitment to always doing what is right has earned him the well-deserved respect and admiration of his staff, colleagues, and the community. He will be greatly missed.”
With 146 sworn officers and 108 civilian personnel, the Elk Grove Police Department serves the second largest city in Sacramento County with 171,059 residents. The department was established in 2006, with Chief Noblett as the City of Elk Grove’s third police chief.
