Armed Man Arrested After Shooting At Elk Grove Police

An armed man who shot at Elk Grove Police officers has been arrested.

Friday evening, the suspect barricaded himself in a home on Trafton Court shortly before 7pm. After he shot at the police, the police then returned the gunfire. Smoke appeared to be coming from the home.

According to Elk Grove Police, a family disturbance escalated. Family members escaped and the police were called. Nearby homes were evacuated. The suspect was arrested at approximately 8:40pm. After he was apprehended the house caught fire. The cause of the fire is unknown. It is possible the suspect set the fire.

Cosumnes Oaks Fire Department battled the fire and were able to successfully extinguish it.
