Booming Success For Giant Pumpkin Festival
The Giant Pumpkin Festival was held on the first weekend of October and the event was a roaring success. Despite the warm temperatures, the turnout was fantastic. Lots of families attended the event, with lots of things to do, eat, and watch.
Booming Comeback
The Giant Pumpkin Festival wasn’t held in 2020 due to concerns about COVID-19. However, despite missing a year, many people came out to Elk Grove Park for the event. Accommodations were made to ensure that the festival followed safety protocols. Events such as the Pumpkin Regatta and Pumpkin Drop were canceled. Additionally, the Pumpkin Pie Eating contest was also canceled.
However, citizens were ready to go out and socialize. There were long lines for both food trucks and rides. The Vine Stage belted out music. Lots of vendors and advertisers were present. Furthermore, the fall season was in the air.
The Giant Pumpkin Champion
Leonardo Urena of Napa won the Giant Pumpkin Weigh-Off. His pumpkin was a whopping 1,623 pounds. Additionally, he won $7,000 for his pumpkin. This is not Urena’s first win either. In the past, he has won three times, in 2005, 2011, and 2019. Congratulations, Mr. Urena!
