Singh-Allen Projected Winner Of Mayoral Race; Suen & Spease Snag City Council

Bobbie Singh-Allen, Darren Suen & Kevin Spease

For the year 2020, Bobbie Singh-Allen is the projected winner of the Elk Grove mayoral race. Meanwhile, Darren Suen looks to retain his Elk Grove City Council District 1 seat. Former Planning Commissioner Kevin Spease is projected to win the Elk Grove City Council District 3 seat.

Mayoral Race

This year’s mayoral race was fraught with controversy regarding allegations that Mayor Steve Ly and his associates harassed several local and elected women in the community.

Bobbie Singh-Allen is projected to win the Elk Grove mayoral race with 46% of the city votes. Steve Ly was the runner up with 35% votes, and Brian Pastor is at 17%.

City Council Race

 

Council Member Darren Suen

Darren Suen is projected to retain his seat 69% of votes. Ali Moua is the runner up with 30% votes.

City Council Member Darren Suen is thankful at early election projections.

“I’m just very grateful for the opportunity to continue my service to the residents of Elk Grove and represent District 1. With nearly 70% of the votes, the overwhelming support of our campaign is incredibly humbling. A big thank you to all my supporters, volunteers, consultants, and my family helping me through it all!

I look forward to working with the new City Council, to continue to keeping our neighborhoods safe, recover from the impacts of the pandemic, and progressing towards a sustainable city with adequate infrastructure and opportunities for all.”

Former Planning Commissioner Kevin Spease looks like he will join the City Council for the first time with with 32% of votes. Amandeep Singh is the runner up with 20%. Maureen Craft is at 19%. Alejandro Gutierrez-Duncan is at 13%.

When asked about his thoughts, Kevin Spease expressed gratitude.

“The outpouring support of District 3 residents has been overwhelming. I appreciate the support of dedicated friends, family, and supporters who have helped me continue my commitment to the service of all Elk Grove residents.”
