DUI Crash At Calvine And Bader Leads To Arrest
On Saturday evening around 8:00 PM, one man was killed and three others were injured as the result of a DUI car crash occurring at Calvine Road and Bader Road in South Sacramento.
According to the California Highway Patrol, a 33-year old male by the name of Steven Bhardwaj was driving a Honda Accord under the influence of alcohol. When Bhardwaj ran a red light, he collided with an SUV. The SUV struck the Honda on the passenger’s door. After colliding, the two vehicles veered to the corner of the intersection where a pedestrian sign was hit.
Bhardwaj had two other passengers in the vehicle with him, a 35-year old male in the passenger’s seat, and a 51-year old male in the back seat. The front seat passenger was transported to the hospital where he later died from his injuries. Both Bhardwaj and the rear passenger were treated for major injuries.
Fortunately, none of the four individuals in the SUV were injured.
While being treated at the hospital, it became apparent to officials that Bhardwaj was impaired and under the influence of alcohol. Bhardwaj has since been arrested and is being held on counts of drunk driving and murder. He is not eligible for bail. His arraignment is set for Wednesday, November 13, 2019.
