Sarom’s Southern Kitchen Opens to Large Crowd
If you have ever been to the South, you will crave Southern food whether it be Shrimp and Grits, Fried Chicken, or Jambalaya. Thankfully, Southern food is much closer to us here in Elk Grove now! Sarom’s Southern Kitchen opens their second restaurant in the community, and the familiar flavors are perfect. Despite the heavy rain, turnout is excellent for their Grand Opening, and the restaurant is packed!
Atmosphere
Sarom’s Southern Kitchen is casual and friendly. The staff members are very helpful, and one may see that Sarom’s smile is contagious whiles she manages the restaurant and greets all the patrons. With the holidays upon us, the restaurant is looking festive with bright lights, greenery, and festive plants throughout the restaurant. The space seems small, but maybe it is because the restaurant was packed with folks looking for some Southern Cooking.
Food
Their menu is extensive and offers just about every major Southern dish you can think of. For lunch, items include burgers and sandwiches, their Po Boy Sandwich, Pulled Pork Sandwich, and combo plates. For dinner, you can find the Fried Chicken and Fried Catfish along with Country Fried Steak. Options were in abundance and narrowing down choices for lunch or dinner is going to be difficult because you will most likely be salivating at the menu options!
After staring at what seems like eternity and trying to figure out what I craved the most since visiting Alabama this June, I decide on the Hot and Spicy Chicken and Waffles and the Rib Lunch Combo. I can say I was not disappointed at all. The waffle is buttery and crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. The thick syrup kept well on the waffle, and the chicken is just the right amount of spice for anyone. The Rib Lunch Combo…mmmmmmm…I have to pause because most noteworthy is the cornbread. It is hands-down one of the best I have ever eaten, especially accompanied by their Honey Butter. Ribs are soft and tender and falls right off the bone. I ate every single bite of that plate!
Management
Sarom Doeuk enjoys cooking any chance possible, and she currently owns and operates two Sarom’s Southern Kitchen here in the area. Encouragement by her daughter leads her to open up her first Southern restaurant. As a result, she now owns and operates two restaurants. Perhaps this comes easily since she previously owned multiple donut shops for over a decade and is familiar with running a restaurant. The first Sarom’s Southern Kitchen opened up about 4 years ago, and by the looks of how packed the Elk Grove location is, it seems like this restaurant will be around for a while!
