Two Men Shot & Injured On Capital City Freeway
Early this morning at 5 AM, two people were shot and injured on the Capital City Freeway in Sacramento County. Part of the freeway was closed as authorities investigated the incident. Indeed, officials were prompted to close the westbound side of the freeway near Watt Avenue and the Business 80-Interstate 80 split. After the investigation was conducted, lanes and ramps were reopened by 7 AM.
Officer Mike Harris is a California Highway Patrol Valley Division spokesman. He stated that the shooting had occurred between two parties. Sadly, two victims were located this morning on the Capital City Freeway with gunshot wounds. Fortunately, they were both transported to a hospital.
What Happened?
Authorities confirmed that two men, ages 24 and 27 were found shot on the freeway near the connector road. The Citrus Heights Police Department stated that the shooting occurred in the area of Antelope Road and Turner Court. Surprisingly, the victims continued driving on the freeway. Bullet casings were found at Antelope Road and Turner Court. Consequently, they were consistent with the bullet holes in the victims’ vehicle.
It is still unknown as to what led up to the shooting. It is also still unknown as to where the victims were heading and the reason they continued to keep driving. The police stated that one victim is in critical condition and the other is in stable condition. Also, the police said that the victims knew the shooter, but a suspect description has not yet been released.
