2 Arrested In Elk Grove After Drug Deal Goes Wrong
On Thursday, April 9, around 7:00 PM, Elk Grove Police Department (EGPD) responded to a weapons disturbance in the 6700 block of Laguna Boulevard. When police arrived in the parking lot of the shopping center they were called to, they detained two people, standing near a vehicle turned to its side, and learned of two others who fled the area. Jordan Gordon-Lawson, 19, and a 17 year old male juvenile were later arrested.
Sequence of Events
A 17 year old juvenile contacted Gordon-Lawson on a social media app and arranged for a meeting in the parking lot of a Laguna Boulevard shopping center to purchase marijuana. The juvenile arrived at the location in a car with an adult male, and Gordon-Lawson arrived with a passenger in his car. Gordon-Lawson met the juvenile at the car that the juvenile arrived in for the exchange and took the juvenile’s money and ran off. The juvenile and the adult male with him chased after Gordon-Lawson.
At that point, Gordon-Lawson pulled out a firearm.
The adult male ran back to the car he came from, while the juvenile got into Gordon-Lawson’s vehicle with Gordon-Lawson’s passenger in the backseat. The juvenile drove off at a high speed and lost control of the vehicle. It turned on its side, and the juvenile ran from the scene.
When officers arrived, they found Gordon-Lawson and his passenger by the sideways car. There the police learned that, prior to their arrival, Gordon-Lawson discarded his firearm in a nearby bush, which was later recovered by officers.
The juvenile was later found by officers.
Arrests and Charges
Detectives arrested Gordon-Lawson for robbery, carrying a loaded firearm, and removing or altering the serial number on a firearm. Gordon-Lawson was transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail.
The juvenile was taken into custody for motor vehicle theft and kidnapping. The juvenile was transported to Juvenile Hall.
The investigation is active and ongoing.
