Elk Grove Multicultural Festival 2018 Draws Crowds
A Successful Multicultural Festival
The annual Elk Grove Multicultural Festival was held last Saturday August 25 from 10AM to 5PM at Elk Grove Regional Park. The popular event helps to celebrate the diversity of our community with music, food, art, and entertainment from 90 different cultures. This is the seventh annual cultural festival. The event is put together by the Elk Grove Multicultural Committee.
This year’s event was a true reflection of the diversity of our city. There were different booths dedicated to food and local businesses, with plenty of crafts and activities for kids, a car show, and picture taking opportunities. Also, different entertainment, dance groups, and musicians performed on two stages. The cultural dance groups such as Sinag Tala were very popular.
Important to note, prominent community leaders in attendance included Vice-Mayor Darren Suen, City Council Member Stephanie Nguyen, City Council Member Pat Hume, and community activist and mayoral candidate Tracie Stafford. Most people brought their families with them to enjoy the festivities.
Great job to the Elk Grove Multicultural Committee for putting together such a successful and entertaining event! Thank you to Scott Matsumoto, Mohinder Singh, Argumand S. Azeemi, Jessica Carter, Jinky Dolar, Rev. Dr. Raymond L. Hess III, Bhavin K. Parikh, MD, Gurjatinder Randhawa, Dr. R Ashok Shankar, and Kristofer J. Tan, MBA for all your efforts. We look forward to next year’s event.
