Press Release Elk Grove Police Department: Three Arrested Following Home Invasion
“ELK GROVE, CA – On April 9, 2019, at approximately 3:04 p.m., officers responded to the 7200 block of Campania Court regarding a burglary which had just occurred. The caller reported that three suspects had broken into his neighbor’s residence. The caller’s neighbor was home at the time but had run out of the house.
The caller went on to state he armed himself with a golf club and confronted the suspects inside the victim’s residence. A physical fight ensued between the suspects and the caller. During the fight, the caller hit one of the suspects with the golf club causing injuries. One of the suspects then placed the caller in a choke hold and attempted to choke the caller. It was later learned the caller was stabbed twice in the torso during the altercation. The caller told the dispatcher one of the suspects was armed with a gun. The suspects left the residence on foot in an unknown direction.
Responding officers located three subjects walking in the area of Bellaterra Drive and Tarzo Way. When officers approached, two of the suspects, later identified as 21-year-old Ivory Spratt and 19-year-old Zamir Alshabazz, ran northbound towards Johnston Park. The third suspect, later identified as 20-year-old Kymon Anderson, did not run and was detained. Officers quickly located Alshabazz and Spratt in the area and detained them. Alshabazz was found to be in possession of property taken from the residence and had visible injuries related to the altercation. Alshabazz was later treated at a local hospital.
An extensive search of the area where the suspects were seen running led to the discovery of a pellet gun that resembled a real firearm.
The caller was transported to a local hospital where he is being treated for non-life threatening stab wounds.
Spratt was arrested for attempted murder, home invasion, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, resisting or obstructing arrest as well as a parole violation.
Alshabazz was arrested for attempted murder, home invasion, assault with a deadly weapon, conspiracy, and resisting or obstructing arrest.
Anderson was arrested attempted murder, home invasion, assault with a deadly weapon, and conspiracy.
All three were transported to the Sacramento County Main Jail and are in the process of being booked into custody. Booking photos will be made available once the booking process is complete.
