Last September, Elk Grovians packed the Costco on Bruceville and Elk Grove Blvd to celebrate it’s Grand Opening. Almost a year later, there are a few new businesses, near ready to open their doors. The long awaited Olive Garden will finally be opened to satisfy the cravings of its Elk Grove fans in the next few months. Meanwhile, Stanton Optical is set for their opening on September 2. Other restaurants like Pieology Pizzeria and Sourdough & Co. are scheduled to open.

Community members eagerly await the arrival of a lot more offerings in Elk Grove!

There are about 20 other tenants in negotiations. The anticipation is real when it comes to who gets be a part of The Ridge Shopping Center. Nine out of the 20 possible tenants are close to signing on. Kelly Rule of Pappas Investments shared that the space is nearly full, and the shopping center will offer a little something for everyone. Food, shopping—need we say more—as well as dental services and salons are expected to be coming.

Progress on Construction

Sacramento-owned construction company, Ascent Builders, has been hard at work on this project. Project Superintendent, Greg Uding, explained that falling 2 months behind schedule was due to a few reasons.

First, there seemed to be fewer construction workers. Secondly, the Elk Grove area saw plenty of wet weather this past winter. Though the rain was good for Elk Grove, known to struggle with drought along with the rest of California, in regards to construction, wet weather has a history of setting back development.

Currently, Uding and Ascent Builders is working on the first six buildings and aim to have one building completed each week with tenants making modifications as desired to their space.

Structure of Shopping Center

The City of Elk Grove’s enthusiastic wait for The Ridge Shopping Center is about to come to an end after three years.

Back in May of 2016, the Planning Commission approved of the structure’s construction.

The center is 20 acres of property and of approximately 226,000 square feet of commercial space. Buildings run anywhere from 4,500 square feet to 7,700 square feet. All buildings are single story. The Southwest area of this development will include Large Major Tenant spaces. Meanwhile, three Junior Major businesses are set to share the multi-tenant building. In addition, The Ridge Shopping Center possesses 14 individual buildings. Six of these buildings may accommodate drive-through windows.
