The new school year has been a concern for the community of Elk Grove. Especially for parents not knowing the uncertainty of the scheduling as well as the safety of their children. Recently, an Elk Grove middle school employee was tested positive for COVID-19, according to Elk Grove Unified School District.

According to an EGUSD statement, this employee distributed textbooks to students on August 6th at Elizabeth Pinkerton Middle School.

EGUSD stated that have followed processes to ensure the safety of the students and staff. They have followed deep cleaning procedures to prevent the spread of the virus as well as following protocols contact tracing. Additionally, they have notified anyone who may have made contact with the employee.
