New Apple Office Set To Open In Elk Grove
(Apple’s new office space from Elk Grove Economic Development)
In November 2018, Apple purchased a 24,400 square foot building for $4.2 million near its Elk Grove campus. Building permits were ordered to convert the property into office space. The location of the new Apple property was once home to Devry University, located at 2216 Kausen Drive.
According to city documents, Apple filed for $2 million worth of alteration construction and chose to pursue sight improvement permits for $500,000.
Apple did not release a statement regarding the building and whether it would be an Apple Store, however, Darrell Doan, Elk Grove’s economic development director said it would be office space, and not retail. Doan is optimistic about the development and said it was a “nice” move to grow Apple’s “footprint and investment in Elk Grove.”
Apple by Elk Grove employs 5,000 Apple and contract employees on its existing campus, occupying 78 acres off of Interstate 5 on Laguna Boulevard. The company started operating in Elk Grove in 1992 as a distribution center and began expanding in 2011.
Apple’s campus in Elk Grove continues to be a logistics, warehouse, and distribution location and currently has operational functions, information technology positions, customer support, Apple Care, and a repair and refurbishment operation.
The company’s new office space will likely generate additional jobs and continue to expand Apple’s brand and presence in Elk Grove.
