Sacramento4kids App Is A Godsend For Busy Parents
Have you ever had a “free” weekend with the kids and thought it would be smooth sailing only to find yourself an hour into your Saturday morning going crazy? Well, there’s a new app in town for parents, and I highly recommend you download it immediately!
Available now on Google Play and the App Store is an application called Sacramento4Kids. It’s an online resource guide for families with children in the Sacramento area which allows parents to have all the information they need at their fingertips. For those who own a business or would like to be listed, they can do so for free by submitting their information. Through the app, available to users are Events, Things to Do, Schools & Activities, and Camps. Find local Deals & Discounts, Sports, Resources, Special Needs and School Events too. What I love especially is that there’s an entire category dedicated to children with Special Needs!
It’s even possible to filter according to the city you’re in! If you think this sounds great, don’t wait to peruse the app and find a wealth of information. You’ll be surprised. I was pleasantly so.
Events
This is my favorite feature! I love being able to see in chronological order what’s happening around the Greater Sacramento region. Clicking on the Events link leads to a plethora of categories that include Activities, Arts, Family Fun, Free Events, and even Homeschool events. Clicking on each category directs users to the listing that shows upcoming events for the corresponding category. I clicked on Family Fun and found myself staring at about 30 different events in the month of June. Events could be a Concert in the Park, a Father’s Day BBQ, Story Time, or a 5K.
Things to Do
Every parent can make use of this category. This tab leads to sources of unending fun for families! School just ended for the year and many moms and dads are probably scrambling to keep their children busy. Under Things to Do, learn about the various museums in the area or find the nearest sprayground parks. If anyone is on the search for something to do outside, all they have to do is click on “Nature and Outdoor” to find activities that can be done out of the home, such as Sugar Ditch Stables and All About a Farm. There are even more places to go like the Powerhouse Science Center and attractions Beyond Sacramento as well. In this section, find seasonal activities to take part in, such as Pumpkin Patches or Winter Activities like Boreal Mountain for skiing.
Schools and Activities
If it’s schools or activities that focus more on educational aspects that people are looking for, they don’t have to look any further! This section of the app provides information on local charter schools, homeschooling, and classes like drawing offered by Space 4 Art Jam or Golf lessons by TopGolf. Additionally, users can find private schools, as well as preschools in the area. If parents are looking for activities that support other tenets of learning, or they want to help them develop skills in other areas like Dance, Arts, or Tutoring, this app has it all. There’s even a subcategory under School Events for those interested in supporting and attending local school activities.
Camps
For those interested in finding a summer camp to send their child but are unsure where, this app has it covered! Even if it’s a Winter camp or Spring Break camp that’s further into the future, this app will help ease the process. We all know how fast time flies! Sacramento 4 Kids lists over 50 different camps kids can take part in. In one camp, they can learn how to build more dexterity and quicken reflexes through Premier Fencing Academy. In another camp, they can learn how to sew with a sewing machine. Choices of programs are in abundance, depending on the interests of the child.
Deals and Discounts
This is another one of my favorites in the Sacramento4Kids app! I’m always looking for a deal and wanting to stretch each dollar. If anyone is like me, this feature is where loads of discounts can be found. The break down goes into Family Discounts, as well as restaurants that provide free meals every single day of the week. For example, Monday through Thursday at Brookfields Restaurant in Roseville, children eat for free! Other offers look like 20% off all Sunday rentals from Bounce House Rentals. Through this section, it’s even possible to take a free class from several businesses, such as Cynthia’s Dance Center or Tumblebuddies!
Sports
Who knew our region hosted so many athletic programs and activities for children? This section of the app is dedicated to a variety of athletic programs children can participate in. This includes Boxing, Baseball, Basketball, Football, Golf, Lacrosse, Rugby, and Rock Climbing. There are even resources for Gymnastics, Tennis, Soccer ,Swimming, Softball, Volleyball, Track and Field, and Martial Arts as well. Kids can stay active and learn more about the various sports available in our community.
Resources
If there are parents who know that extra-curricular activities aren’t a good fit for their families, but would like a resource for local businesses that are good with children, this app is the app to turn to! Find Dentists or Optometrists who are fantastic with kids, or under the Health and Beauty section, find a local hairstylist that won’t easily scare off a child with a pair of scissors. In this category, it’s also possible to look up local photographers and shops or boutiques catered to children. Furthermore, Child Care Services and Family Law resources are available here as well.
Special Needs
How many parents find themselves wishing there were more activities for their childen with special needs? Check out this part of the app and to find a variety of resources. Applied Behavioral Analysis Therapy, Occupational Therapy, Physical Therapy, and Licensed Psychologists or Counselors can be found here, too. Speech Therapy and Music Therapy resources are also listed and available for families. In this section, find Special schools, such as Point Quest Education, where a child can attend for up to 200 days, receiving support with a student to staff ratio of 5:1. Furthermore, the sub-category of Special Sports allows children to stay active with programs tailored to their needs. For example, Special Fit Sacramento offers a variety of fitness services for children who may have Autism, Down’s Syndrome, Asperger’s Syndrome, etc.
Overall
Parents, as I’ve painted, Sacramento4Kids is a valuable resource for you! I highly recommend all parents in the Sacramento area download the Sacramento4kids app.
This app is a vast hub of information, and every parent or guardian should have it ready to go! Rainy Day? Family coming into town on short notice? Need a tutor for your child? This app has all those answers and more! If you find that you know exactly what you’re looking for or have a keyword in mind, type it into the search bar of the app to avoid what’s not relevant to you. It’s easy to search without having to go through each section.
I’ve already marked down the events I’m headed to in June, thanks to Sacramento4Kids, and I hope to see you soon!
