Bravo’s Soup & Sandwich Shoppe To Close
Bravo’s Soup & Sandwich Shoppe announced this week that they will be closing their doors forever on February 24. Bravo’s began their announcement by stating “We are proud of what we have done – We ran the race and finished the course with our heads held high!” The Mom and Pop restaurant has served the Elk Grove community for five years in the Market 99 Shopping Center off of E. Stockton Blvd. Now that their lease is ending Bravo’s states “We are unable to sign up for another 5 years due to the fact that we can’t sustain a budget that allows us to continue in Elk Grove.”
Bravo’s Soup & Sandwich Shoppe is small Mom and Pop restaurant owned by Jim Brown and his wife Lisa Brown. Jim is a cowboy from the Midwest and Lisa is a ballerina. Together Jim and Lisa Brown operate a ranch in Wilton, Pegasus Riding Club, and Encore Studio of Performing Arts, which has been serving our community since 1985. They fused their styles together to create Bravo’s farm-to-fork menu with sandwiches and salads named after famous operas and musicals. The owners stated on Facebook that they and their family invested a substantial amount of their savings into the restaurant but that they are “Working on a plan…we’ll see what lies ahead!”
The announcement on Bravo’s Facebook page received an outpouring of support and commiseration from the community. The Soup and Sandwich Shoppe has a loyal following and 4.5 star rating on Yelp with over 250 reviews. Many people responding to the post had only recently discovered the restaurant and expressed their disappointment at the store closure.
With the announcement Bravo’s asks Elk Grove residents to show their support of small business by shopping and dining at locally owned shops and restaurants. They state “There are many great Businesses in your Neighborhoods that are struggling to serve you, please give them the chance to earn your respect!” If you would like to try Bravo’s, or show your support of these local business owners, stop by Bravo’s Soup and Sandwich Shoppe for lunch or dinner between now and February 24. We we send our best wishes to the owners of Bravo’s and all the wonderful staff. Elk Grove will certainly miss Bravo’s.
