UPDATE: CHP Officer Delivers Baby Off Highway 99 In Sacramento
A California Highway Patrol (CHP) Officer delivered a baby on Highway 99 in Sacramento Monday afternoon.
Off-Ramp Delivery
While performing a routine traffic stop, California Highway Patrol Officer Jeffrey Lloyd was caught off guard when a grey SUV pulled up behind him along the Fruitridge Road off-ramp on southbound 99 about 4:30PM. When he approached the vehicle, the woman passenger said she was in labor and about to give birth.
Without hesitation, Officer Lloyd radioed dispatch and collected the necessary medical equipment. “He returned to the SUV, comforted the expectant mother and delivered the newborn baby soon after. He carefully unwrapped the umbilical cord from the baby’s head and made sure both mother and baby were stable.” (from CHP Facebook)
“Officer Lloyd notified dispatch of the birth and stayed with the mother and baby until medical personal from the Sacramento City Fire Department arrived on scene. The mother and her healthy newborn daughter were transported to a local hospital.” (From CHP Facebook)
Officer Jeffrey Lloyd definitely had an interesting day. Also, the woman who delivered now has a great story to tell her daughter.
Congratulations to the woman who delivered and her family on the birth of her daughter! Great job, CHP Officer Jeffery Lloyd!
